吴西臣（1949）笔名：云海漫士，山东泰安市人，从事书法专业，自幼酷爱书法，练习碑帖，纳百家之长，融自己风格，擅榜书。书法作品意境高，讲究雄健神，自然流畅，2007年4月被北京涉外经济学院国际书画院聘请为客座教授，中国文化艺术家协会副主席，90年在欧阳中石老师主编主讲的中国书法函授大学进修毕业，64年入伍北京总参通信兵文工团，并担任副团长。曾和著名电影演员朱琳、中央电视台新闻部记者王晓琨同台演出并工作多年。在北京工作期间，经常参加大型文艺演出活动。2011年臺北故宫书画院聘请为臺北故宫书画院名誉院长及臺北故宫书画院客座教授。曾被联合国国际文化艺术家联合总会聘请为副主席，并被授予“英格兰皇家艺术第一人”。67年12月3日在人民大会堂受到毛主席、周总理等中央首长接见并合影留念。77年调南京解放军通信工程学院政治部，从事文化及电化教学工作。87年转业。任县文化局副局长、泰安市书法协会理事、老年书画协会副主席兼秘书长。书法作品《祥和》93年获全国政协联谊会书画展荣誉奖。书法作品分别收录在大型丛书《世界当代著名书画家真迹博览大典》、世界华人文学艺术界名人录、中华人民共和国书画名家作品集。建国55周年，即澳门回归全国民间工艺术美术书法展获精英奖，全国第三界“王子杯”海峡两岸书画大赛荣誉金奖。2008年4月被中国兰亭书法院聘任为高级书法师和名誉院长。08年北京首届老年书法、美术家协会作品大展授予“百名德益双馨艺术家”荣誉称号。2010年荣获国家文化部文华政府奖。

心怀随性亲和的西臣先生，在书法修习的道路上，却是顽强不辍，对自己要求极其严格。他自幼喜书法艺术，天性高，悟性强，练习古书碑贴极其用心用功，达“形是意是”的高度，仅“似”是绝不辍笔的。

西臣先生尽施心力和身力而成的大书《龙》幅，有极高的艺术价值，其投资价值当然也是水涨船高，追拍者无数，但未必能得，精品自然最为难得！另有大笔雄墨精品《祥和》《精气神》两幅作品，也是结体、行笔、施墨尽得浑雄之势的艺术佳作。如果西臣先生能舍手，将作品投入艺术品投资市场，蜂追之态，会立即涌来。

又细赏西臣先生《紫气东来》一幅，又不得不盛赞先生的笔功之能。这幅作品，楷意取自颜、欧。你看一个“东”字，首笔横画，与末笔撇捺，丰艳华美，完全是颜体端美，而折笔则取欧体之细，细构折拐，逸如轻云薄雾，美哉悠哉。一字之中融两体，可见西臣先生对古贴有精细的把握能力与强大的融合功夫。极赞首字“紫”与末字“来”，行草之形，意气贯通，形随意连，折笔纵行，行云流水，一气呵出，完具王羲之书兰亭的随心所欲与轻灵飘逸，笔法之自由，前承二王之能，又极尽自家新意，有继承，有创新，此谓横书精品，悬于堂舍，必大得紫气东来之吉意。这幅作品，有功底、有新风，有吉意，得众人追，那是必然。
五岳之首，泰山之巅，孔孟侧畔，祥和泰安！泰安大贤吴西臣还有一个大显之名，他是明朝兵部尚书吴崇礼的第十八代嫡孙。祖有先贤，所以家学丰厚，得家学之染，更成西臣先生大绩盛名。
