Guoming Yu – CEO, Zhejiang Stern-Pipe Industry Co. Ltd.

„Made in China 2025“ is an initiative to comprehensively upgrade Chinese industry. The initiative draws direct inspiration from Germany’s “Industry 4.0” plan. Therefore Mr. Guoming Yu, CEO of Zhejiang Stern-Pipe Industry has visited some manufacturers of plastic pipes in Germany recently, in order to upgrade his products.

Mr. Yu said: “There are so many good reasons why German people have so much confidence in their products and why “made in Germany” is a quality brand worldwide. Thanks arrangement of SinoGermanTrade.com and under direction of Mrs. Isabel Wiedenroth, I have visited a plastic pipe manufacturer in Germany, a global market leader in manufacturing PE-RT pipes, the so-called Hidden Champion, who has preserved the samples of all using raw materials in the last ten years, it’s management and responsibility towards product quality have impressed me deeply. Consequently I realize the core of “Industry 4.0” or “made in China 2025” is the human being, based on people’s way of thinking, its attitude and responsibility.

In recent years, cross-border mergers and acquisitions become a common way for Chinese companies to expand overseas markets and realize technology transfer, and German companies are the dream partners of many Chinese enterprises due to brand effect of “made in Germany” and it’s advanced industrial technology

But while state-owned Chinese enterprises occupied the dominant position of overseas M & A, today more and more private Chinese companies are going to make investments in Germany, in order to meet the needs of upgrading and transformation.

Facing this new trend, SinoGermanTrade.com has invited Mrs. Daniela Fehring, expert of PMI & Change in China, author of “Chinese-German M&A” and Mrs. Lily Lue, expert for sino-german intercultural communication to make relevant keynote speeches.

Lily Lue – Expert for SinoGerman intercultural communication

Lily Lue, from her perspective as certified International Professional Managers Trainer and Master of Business Administration of FH Frankfurt, analyzed the different way of thinking in Chinese and German cultures.

German culture has cultivated the critical thinking and self-perceived ability, while Chinese entrepreneurs are more results-oriented and with capability to response to the market quickly.

Lily Lue emphasized that one of the keys for successful cooperation between Chinese and German companies is a good intercultural communication. Both parties should have more face to face communication, to understand each other's point of view.

Daniela Fehring – Expert for Post Merger Integration & Change in China

Daniela Fehring has analyzed the contradictions and problems in the SinoGerman M&A from its whole process and relevant details. She said the establishment of a “Merger Integration Team” with participation of the entire M&A process, has a crucial influence on the results of M&A.

The Merger Integration Team should participate into the negotiations from the very beginning, it should open an investigation on management system, company culture and its values, in order to respond flexibly to the problems generated in the M&A process.

In addition, Daniela Fehring stressed that financial statement, company structure, management team are also important factors which decide whether a M&A could be successful or not.

Isabel Wiedenroth, CEO of SinoGermanTrade.com pointed out in the interview: “There are many SMEs in Germany with Hi-Tech and Know-how which Chinese companies are looking for, due to the need of upgrading. But Chinese companies should not use M&A as the only way to get know-how to develop its research capacity, because M&A is only the first step to realize the technology transfer, afterwards both parties should overcome many obstacles and challenges, such as discrepancies in the mentality, quality demand and technology standards, in order to achieve win-win cooperation.”

“From the perspective of SinoGermanTrade.com, whether import and export or merger and acquisition, it should be integrated into the “open internet thinking” combined with high-value manufacturing, exploring a more simple and efficient business model, in order to promote the advantages of “made in China 2025” and “Industrie 4.0”, emphasized Isabel Wiedenroth.

SinoGermanTrade.com has established online community for Chinese and German speaking entrepreneurs who are selected under strict screening. This forum is also regarded as a “face to face” meeting for the members of SGT-VIP-Groups. The participants were company leaders who came from Germany, Taiwan, Beijing, Sichuan, Zhejiang and Shanghai to attend this brain-storming forum.
