家住福建的王学勤下过乡，做过泥工、木匠、修理工，做过生意，也外出打过工，如今是腾飞工艺品有限公司老总。老王向来着力于工作，对石头兴趣不大，认识也只停留在表面。然而，2000年春那次云南出差却成为他结缘石头的开始。

云南旅游开发早，奇石收藏、把玩者众，借助旅游平台淘石、卖石的摊位随处可见，耳濡目染，王学勤被一块蓝田玉所吸引，权当纪念以186万元买了一块回家。

也许是人石有缘。自那块石头回家后，竟引来许多好友观赏、传看，其中不乏玩石爱好者和行家。“以石会友”，王学勤发现光泽本地也有不少好石头，而且玩石头的人还不少，圈子越玩越大，对石头的认识越来越深！

与奇石结缘的这些年，王学勤结交了很多志同道合的石友，遍布全国各地，他们经常进行赏石心得的分享与交流，日复一日，他自身的赏石技艺突飞猛进。目前任福建省南平市观赏石协会副会长，随着对奇石越来越有研究，他所收藏的奇石也得了不少奖。每一块奇石都有着不凡之处，每一次把玩，都会有不同的乐趣，不同的内涵。玩石虽然是他的业余爱好，但是却充实了他的生活，更让他在寻石、赏石、藏石的过程中，领悟到大自然的神秘与奥妙。
